This active, hands-on class introduces students to basic oil painting skills through the use of a simple monochrome palette. Using just three tubes of paint, students will learn how to mix a range of values from very dark to white tones within the same color family. Class projects will focus on building confidence with brushwork, blending, shading, contrast, composition, and creating depth. Students will complete paintings in class while practicing foundational techniques in a relaxed and encouraging setting.
