About this event
The black locust flower is a short-lived bloom that tastes somewhat like sweet fresh peas and is delicious in salads. These posies also make an excellent floral shrub. We will be foraging black locust flowers on young trees along the railroad tracks at Ingalls Pond and sharing recipes for these delicacies. Bring a basket or other container to hold the flowers and clippers to trim them off the trees. Be aware - the flowers are tender, and the black locust thorns are large. The trailhead for Ingalls Pond and a small parking area is between Ingalls Pond and South Ingalls Pond on Route 113 (at latitude, longitude: 43.857861, -70.790080), or you can park at the Hiram Dam Recreation parking area on Hiram Dam Road before the railroad tracks then walk along the tracks to the Ingalls Pond trailhead. Please pre-register if possible.
