'The Colors of Palette Knife Plus' workshop will provide an opportunity for those interested in the palette knife and other alternative painting tools to broaden horizons and creative skills.
While all medium are invited, the workshop is particularly geared to those working in oils or acrylics. The format, while reinforcing the basic skills needed for the creation of well balanced colorful images, is individualized to accommodate a wide variety of levels as well as styles of painting, from the less experienced to the advanced painter; and from those interested in representational to abstract imagery.
This is the perfect workshop for those wishing to introduce new tools to their repertoire, better master color usage, and gain a range of techniques for applying paint. Through the use of these less traditional tools one can lay a new foundation for enhancing one's painting, imbuing it with vibrant colors and discovering a broad range of textures, shortcuts, as well as a greater facility for the inclusion of geometric shapes. Day 1: still lifes Day 2: still lifes or works from what is around you or your own photo.
Suggested supplies: 2+ primed painting surfaces approx 12x16" or larger I like 16x20 or larger for these tools. If your preference is to paint small, you will need to have the appropriate sized tools. I like ampersand gessobord, but canvas, mounted oil paper, etc is up to you. paint colors - a guideline: lemon yellow, cadmium yellow medium, cad orange, red (cad or napthol), alizarin permanent, purple dioxizine, ultramarine blue, thalo blue, titanium zinc white optional fun colors: transparent orange, cobalt teal, radiant blue or equivalent. Please note: all sorts of blacks and greys can be created from these colors but feel free to add black if you wish. I tend not to buy black, greens or browns but prefer to mix my own from the above palette. brushes - my preference is flat brushes size 7 and 11 palette paper and/or Masterson Stay Wet palette set up boxes (pizza, raymar, etc) for transporting wet paintings palette knife: I suggest RGM size 46 or 50 or similar Spatchers and/or Princeton Catalyst Wedge (Grey) from Jerry's Artarama, DickBlick or Amazonpainting medium (and retarder if using acrylics) and container rags for clean-up (I discourage paper towels due to fire hazard with oil solvents very little solvent is used with these tools, so there is less mess optional: still life objects if you wish to bring some of your own optional: photos you want to use as reference for day 2 Questions: email me at cynthiarosenart@gmail.com
I am looking forward to working with you.
