Have you ever wanted to go backstage of our local theatres, meet the directors, actors and other creators who make theatre happen? Are you interested in learning more about how the theatre scene in Washington DC started and what makes the theatre community here unique? Let me give you a hint...theatre in Washington DC started from a place of activism,,. young people wanted to challenge social norms, so they started making plays. From Black Broadway, to the Black Arts Movement to Jazz to Duke Ellington School of the Arts! The day will culminate with a performance at Studio Theatre. We'll meet at The Kennedy Center at 9:15am and our day will end at 4:30 at the Studio Theatre, 1501 14th Street, NW. Be prepared to walk a lot! This program is for grades 6 and up please. This is a great opportunity for middle schoolers interested in attending Duke Ellington School of the Arts. IF YOU ARE AN INCOMING STUDENT, YOU DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER FOR THIS PROGRAM. IT IS ASSUMED THAT WHEN YOU SIGN UP FOR THE WEEK-LONG PROGRAM THAT YOU WILL ATTEND.
