About this event
This comprehensive course provides fundamental instruction on using a pistol equipped with an optic. Red dot sights, commonly referred to as optics, are electronic devices that emit a colored beam of light from an emitter and project it onto the inside of the lens. The course covers various topics, such as dot acquisition upon presentation, the draw and recovery to the holster, target focus shooting with a dot, self-defense-oriented grip and stance, single-handed use of a handgun with a red dot optic mounted, and acquiring the dot from alternative positions. Additionally, it explores the advantages and complications associated with having a pistol equipped with an optic. Prerequisite: Students must have a solid understanding of the functionality and usage of their handgun, including the fundamental principles of shooting, loading, unloading, and holstering. This course is not intended for new firearm users or individuals with a limited knowledge base regarding the operation of their handgun. Required Gear - handgun with red dot optic. - holster; strong side hip mounted or appendix inside waistband only. No cross draw, shoulder, ankle, small of back, or pocket carry allowed. - 500 rounds of ammunition - 5 magazines or speed loaders or more - magazine holder - eye protection - ear protection - electronic is preferred. - note taking material - clothing for weather conditions and closed toe shoes. We will be on a grass range. - Spare battery for optic - Manual for optic - Sight adjustment tool for optic - water - snacks / lunch Optional Gear - sunscreen - bug spray - chair Rental pistol with holster and magazines available for those wanting to learn before they buy.
