How does artificial intelligence actually learn? In this hands-on introduction to AI and machine learning, you will become AI investigators and creators as you explore what makes a technology “intelligent” and what doesn’t. You’ll examine familiar technologies to discover where AI is hiding in everyday life and clear up some common misconceptions about what AI can really do. Then you will move from exploring AI to building it yourselves! Working in teams with BBC micro:bits, you will collect and label movement data, train a machine-learning model to recognize actions such as walking and jumping, and put your model to the test. By the end of the course, you won’t just know what AI and machine learning are: you’ll have firsthand experience with training, testing, and improving an AI system of your own.
