About this event
In this class, students will develop precision woodworking skills, including measuring, cutting, and joinery, while learning to use more specialized tools. Construction involves cutting straight pieces on the chop saw, shaping organic pieces with a jigsaw, and using a router with a template jig to refine the curves. Trim routers are used to soften edges with a roundover bit. Assembly teaches spatial awareness and control with drills and drivers. By the end of class, students will have gained skills that translate to furniture-making and finer carpentry projects such as interior trim. This two-day course centers on building a classic Adirondack chair constructed from locally sourced, naturally rot-resistant larch. The design has been refined for maximum comfort. Students under 18 may attend with parental permission.
