This summer, get your hands dirty and immerse yourself in the art of ceramics! This engaging studio course invites students to explore clay as both a creative and functional medium. Going beyond basic techniques, you’ll develop artistic skills, experiment with form and texture, and learn how ideas become finished ceramic works. Through hands-on projects and guided instruction, you’ll gain confidence as a maker and artist. What You’ll Explore: -Hand building Techniques: Learn pinch, coil, and slab methods to create both sculptural and functional pieces. -Wheel Throwing Fundamentals: Develop skills on the pottery wheel, from centering clay to shaping forms. -Surface Design & Glazing: Experiment with texture, carving, and glazes to add personality and meaning to your work. -Creative Process & Critique: Build problem-solving skills through design planning, reflection, and group critiques. Important Notes: -Students can miss no more than one class to receive 0.5 credit. -This course offers guaranteed credit for NDA students.
