Description: Students involved in Math Team participate in practices where we work through high-level math problems in preparation to compete in two different types of competitions: Math League (which is our local group of schools competing against each other) and MathCounts (which is a national middle school math competition with options for students who place high enough to go on to other levels of the competition). Students in grades 5-8 are eligible to compete in Math League competitions and students in grades 6-8 are eligible to compete in MathCounts competitions. Our first practice will be on Wednesday, October 7th from 3:50-5:10pm, which is during both sessions of Extended Day. Miss EH anticipates having practice or a competition every Wednesday that we are in school with our last practice on April 14th - note that this is a different end date than the Extended Day year, as we only have practices for a couple of weeks past our last Math League meet. As part of the Extended Day program, there is a $200 fee associated with Math Team - this covers costs for Extended Day fees for both semesters, registrations for competitions, snacks for students, and other miscellaneous costs. Once you're registered for Math Team this fall, you will not need to register for Math Team in the spring. Tentative Competition Dates!
