Enjoy a family-focused long weekend at LARPD’s Camp Shelly in South Lake Tahoe! Whether you’re a Camp Shelly regular or looking to get into camping, this program is for you. Meet other like-minded families at our daily activities like morning wildflower walks and afternoon crafts and games. Gather after dinner for campfire stories or a guided night hike. Learn the basics of camping, how to be safe around bears, and make some new camping friends this summer!
Campers supply their own camping equipment, transportation, and food. Download the General Schedule and Recommended Equipment List below.
- Registration opens April 1, 2026
- Call the ranger station at (925)960-2400 to enroll
- Price is per person
- Families and groups will be registered together
- All participants need an ActiveNet (LARPD) account
- Campground will be closed to all but the participants of this special program during these set dates and times.
- Children 3 and under are free
- A welcome e-mail will be sent from natureprograms@larpd.org a week before your trip
