As part of the Día de los Muertos Family Celebration, the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department invites you to participate in the Catrín-Catrina Costume Contest! Celebrate the rich traditions of Día de los Muertos by showcasing your creativity, artistry, and cultural appreciation through elegant Catrín and Catrina attire. Contestants are encouraged to create authentic, imaginative, and visually striking ensembles inspired by this cherished Mexican tradition.
The contest will take place at the Allan Hancock College Fine Arts Complex and is one of the featured attractions of the celebration. Participation is FREE, and contestant space is limited. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Como parte de la Celebración Familiar del Día de los Muertos, el Departamento de Recreación y Parques de la Ciudad de Santa María le invita a participar en el Concurso de Catrín y Catrina. Celebre las ricas tradiciones del Día de los Muertos mostrando su creatividad, talento artístico y apreciación cultural a través de un elegante vestuario de Catrín o Catrina. Se anima a los participantes a presentar atuendos auténticos, creativos y visualmente impresionantes inspirados en esta querida tradición mexicana.
El concurso se llevará a cabo en el Complejo de Bellas Artes del Allan Hancock College y será una de las principales atracciones de la celebración. La participación es GRATUITA y el cupo es limitado. Las inscripciones serán aceptadas por orden de llegada.
Contest Guidelines and Application/Reglas del Concurso e InscripciónContest Check-In / Registro de Participantes: Contestant check-in begins at 4:30 p.m. All contestants must be checked in no later than 5:30 p.m/El registro de participantes comenzará a las 4:30 p.m. Todos los concursantes deberán registrarse a más tardar a las 5:30 p.m. Judging / Evaluación: Judging will begin at approximately 6:00 p.m., with winners announced immediately following the competition/La evaluación comenzará aproximadamente a las 6:00 p.m. y los ganadores serán anunciados inmediatamente después del concurso.
