Día de los Muertos Community Art Contest
As part of the Día de los Muertos Family Celebration, the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department invites artists of ages 14+ to participate in the Día de los Muertos Community Art Contest!
Celebrate the rich traditions of Día de los Muertos by showcasing your creativity, artistic talent, and cultural appreciation through original works of art. Participants are encouraged to create pieces that honor the beauty, symbolism, and spirit of this cherished Mexican tradition while expressing their own unique artistic style.
Artwork will be displayed at the Allan Hancock College Fine Arts Complex during the celebration and will serve as one of the featured attractions of the event.
Participation is FREE, but space is limited. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Artists may begin creating their artwork during the following times:
Friday, October 23: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.Saturday, October 24: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.Sunday, October 25: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Final touch-ups only)

Judging / Evaluación
Judging will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 25. To ensure a fair judging process, all artwork must be completed by 1:00 p.m.
The public will also have an opportunity to participate by voting for their favorite artwork. Community members may cast their vote by placing stickers on a designated voting board located near the artwork display.
Winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m.
La evaluación se llevará a cabo de 1:00 p.m. a 4:30 p.m. el domingo 25 de octubre. Para garantizar una evaluación justa, todas las obras deberán estar terminadas a la 1:00 p.m.
El público también tendrá la oportunidad de participar votando por su obra favorita. Los asistentes podrán emitir su voto colocando una calcomanía en un tablero de votación ubicado cerca de la exhibición de las obras.
