Do you love collecting stickers, photos and little keepsakes everywhere you go? Are you drawn to creativity, self-expression, and storytelling? If so, this course is for you! In this hands-on creative writing and mixed media art class, students will explore personal memories, identity and Notre Dame San Jose through the art of junk journaling and reflective writing. Using the greater San Jose community and their own lived experiences, students will transform found materials into layered works of art and written expression. Throughout the course, students will experiment with techniques such as collage, decoupage, photography, & recycled and found object art. Each week of this 3 week series, students will complete a finished journal spread paired with a reflective writing piece that brings their artwork’s story to life. All necessary supplies will be provided.
