"Oh, the thinks you can think" when Dr. Seuss' best-loved characters collide and cavort in an unforgettable musical caper! Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical KIDS, a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winning writers and composers. Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, our narrator, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many "thinks." Horton's challenge is twofold — not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant! Our two-week Summer Theatre Camps runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with optional early drop-off at 8:00 a.m. and late pickup until 6:00 p.m at no additional charge. Performances happen on the Saturday following the final day of camp (show times TBD). Campers receive daily instruction in acting, music, dance/movement, and theatre games as they rehearse for a final performance under the lights and in costume on the Penfold stage for family and friends. Tuition is $475, with sibling and multi-session discounts available, and all instructional and production costs are included. Lunch and snacks are not provided. Campers should bring a sack lunch, two to three snacks, and a refillable water bottle each day.
