Own the spotlight! Audition Intensive: Monologues and College Prescreens is a rigorous 12-week course designed for high school actors who are ready to tackle the demands of competitive casting and college admissions in a supportive, focused environment. In this hour-long weekly masterclass, students will focus on finding, preparing, and perfecting contrasting monologues. Through dedicated coaching and constructive group feedback, the class explores how to select age-appropriate, active material that highlights a performer's unique strengths and type. Students will delve into deep script analysis, learn to make high-stakes acting choices, and master the specific technical requirements for filming polished college prescreen videos—including slating, framing, and utilizing proper eyelines. Fostering an encouraging and professional atmosphere, this intensive helps young actors overcome audition anxiety and discover their authentic voice. Performers will practice entering an audition room (or framing a self-tape) with confidence, taking on-the-spot redirection, and leaving a lasting, positive impression on directors and collegiate adjudicators. Over the semester, students will build a versatile repertoire of performance-ready monologues, culminating in a final mock-audition showcase for family and friends on the last day of class. Whether you are preparing to film your BFA college prescreens, auditioning for elite summer training programs, or aiming for a leading role in your school play, this class will give you the tools and technique to stand out when it counts.
