About this event
Come learn woodworking fundamentals in this hands-on class designed for students with limited or no prior experience. Professional woodworker and furniture designer Libby Schrum will guide you through essential techniques and safety practices you need to use basic home shop tools and machinery with confidence. You’ll gain valuable experience in measuring, cutting, connecting and assembling wood components, while crafting a small, practical tool tote that doubles as a sitting bench. (If you’ve already built nesting trays in Libby's previous class and want more practice, the tool tote will sharpen your skill set.) Materials fee of $40 to $50 (based on current wood prices) is to be paid to the instructor in cash the first week of class. Please note: although some skills are transferable, this class is not geared toward carpentry/home repair. Class skips 11/11 and 11/25. Instructor Libby Schrum is a furniture designer and maker in Camden with nearly 20 years of woodworking experience. She often teaches at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship and offers one-on-one instruction in her studio www.libbyschrum.com.
