Calling all bird carvers, intermediate and up: Join us this fall and winter as we take a deep dive into carving the beautiful, vibrant wood duck drake. We’ll spend nine weeks carving in Part One, then nine more weeks painting in Part Two. The unique shape and extensive, intricate colors of this magnificent waterfowl warrant such attention to detail. Enjoy the camaraderie of the woodshop and the meditative practice of slowly sculpting then painting wood into an almost living creation. Bring as much reference material as possible to aid in painting. Paint and brushes are included in the course fee. Class skips 11/26, 12/17, 12/24, 12/31. Instructor Mike McCune has a degree in Biology and has been carving and watching birds for over twenty years. He has taught duck carving for over eight years.
