About this event
The American Heart Association’s BLS (Basic Life Support) course is designed for healthcare providers and professional rescuers, including doctors, nurses, EMTs, firefighters, and other emergency response personnel. While anyone may take the course, the training is geared toward professional rescuers rather than laypersons. This hands-on course prepares students to recognize life-threatening emergencies, perform high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate breaths and ventilations, and use an AED effectively. The course follows the 2025 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. Offered through Maine CPR, this 4-hour in-person class includes the written exam during class time. Students who successfully complete the course receive their certification card within 48 hours. Certification requires a passing score of 84% or higher on the written exam, along with 100% accuracy during the required skills evaluation.
