Transform your morning coffee ritual with a personalized touch. This engaging class invites you to use hand-building techniques to craft a beautiful, functional French press from a simple flat slab of clay—no prior pottery experience required. Across three detailed sessions, you'll first learn to prepare and wedge your clay, then roll and texture it into a suitable cylinder shape, add a bottom and craft a perfectly fitting lid. In the second session, you’ll enhance your creation by forming and attaching essential elements like feet, a spout, and a handle, Finally, explore various glazing techniques to add the finishing decorative touches, ensuring your unique piece is ready for daily use.
Elevate your coffee experience with a handcrafted ceramic French press made by you. Pickup after firing at the studio anytime after the workshop.

Register by January 3rd!
January 10th, 1:00pm-3:00pm: Creating the pot

• Prepare and wedge your clay.
• Roll a slab of clay and smooth or texture the clay.
• Use a form to create a cylinder suitable for use as a French Press
• Attach a bottom to your cylinder
• Make a lid

January 11th, 1:00pm-3:00pm: Finishing the pot

• Create and attach feet, spout, and handle

January 17th, 1:00pm-3:00pm: Glazing the pot

• Glaze your bisque fired pieces

About the Instructor:

After a long career in medicine, Martha lacy traded her stethoscope for a pottery wheel and never looked back. What began as a hobby shared with her daughter twenty years ago quickly grew into a lifelong passion. Today, she runs her own pottery studio, creating pieces inspired by the stunning natural beauty of the San Juan Mountains that surround her. Martha loves sharing the joy of clay with others—teaching not only the techniques of pottery, but also the creativity, playfulness, and sense of wonder that first drew her in.
This class must meet the minimum enrollment by 5pm the night before class. If the minimum is met, registration will remain open until the class begins. Please check your email (and Spam folder) the day before/of class in case of unexpected cancellations.
