The Rosemary Weigel Frostbite 5K Walk/Run kicks off near twilight in Glen Miller Park, with luminaries and holiday cheer lighting the path. After the race, stick around for our Celebration of Lights, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, and visit with Santa!
This event holds a special place in the hearts of the Richmond Parks and Recreation staff. The race honors Rosemary Weigel, a beloved long-time park employee who passed away in 2012 after battling cancer. Rosemary was a familiar face at community races and deeply involved in our programs. Naming this event after her is our way of keeping her spirit alive. Proceeds from the race help fund our summer park programs and events. The Frostbite 5K also serves as the final race in the Wayne County Challenge’s annual 8-race series.
Pre-registration is $20 per participant, and the fee increases to $25 on race day. Register by November 13, 2025, to guarantee your Frostbite 5K T-shirt in your requested size. T-shirt availability for registrations after November 14 will be based on remaining sizes and quantities on race day.
