Stand Up Paddleboarding Skills & Adventure Camp - 2025 Description: Our SUP Skills & Adventure Camp is designed for students in grades 6–8 who are eager to dive into the exciting world of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). Campers will spend their days paddling on several Washington waterways, learning essential SUP skills, playing engaging group games, and building confidence on and off the water. From mastering paddle strokes and safety techniques to taking on teamwork challenges and races, every day will be packed with adventure. The camp will culminate in a thrilling long-distance paddle trip down the Sammamish River, giving campers the chance to showcase their new skills while exploring the region's stunning waterways. Highlights: Learn and practice paddleboarding skills based on the American Canoe Association's (ACA) Level 1 curriculum. Participate in exciting games, group paddling activities, and friendly races. Build confidence with safety and rescue training, including self-rescue techniques. Discover Leave No Trace principles and help preserve local ecosystems. Embark on a memorable expedition to cap off the week! No prior stand up paddleboarding experience is required—José and his team will ensure every camper is supported and has a blast on the water. Campers should expect a high level of physical activity every day. All necessary equipment is provided, including life jackets, boards, and paddles. Instructor This camp is led by José González, Ed.D., the school’s Director of Experiential Education, an ACA Level 3 Stand-Up Paddleboarding Instructor, and a former sponsored ocean athlete. José is also an EMT and holds a doctoral degree in education, bringing unparalleled expertise, risk management, and a passion for outdoor learning to the program.
