Description
This 16-hour instructor-led course prepares emergency vehicle technicians, fleet mechanics, and fire apparatus service personnel to diagnose, service, and maintain complex A/C systems. Participants will learn refrigeration principles, system components, diagnostics, and regulatory compliance through lectures, demonstrations, troubleshooting scenarios, and hands-on labs. Modules cover heat transfer, refrigeration cycles, refrigerants, oils, environmental and safety considerations, key components, and fire apparatus-specific A/C configurations. Additional topics include manifold gauge use, troubleshooting, leak detection, electrical diagnostics, component repair, evacuation, charging methods, and regulatory best practices (NFPA, DOT, EPA), plus recordkeeping and technician certification.
