About this event
Step into the process of creating immersive light art in this two-session, hands-on workshop led by Craig Winslow, Founder & Chief Creative Officer of Winslow Studio. Designed for adults who want to experiment, prototype, and explore new ways to project digital media onto physical spaces, the workshop emphasizes guided exercises, collaborative problem-solving, and iterative making. You’ll learn by doing as you test ideas, refine techniques, and develop your own approach to projection mapping. May 2, 1:00-4:00 PM Session 1: Foundations *Overview of Craig Winslow, Founder & Chief Creative Officer of Winslow Studio artistic practice and body of work. *Introduction to the basics of projection mapping using MadMapper. *Working in small groups, we’ll learn to map digital media onto 2D surfaces, murals, and 3D objects. *Brainstorm a concept or prototype to actualize in session 2. May 9, 1:00-4:00 PM Session 2: Interaction & Installation *Explore interactive elements like live camera input, MIDI control, and sound-reactive visuals. *Learn mobile projection techniques for versatile sites, ranging from rooftops to forests, and refine your prototype on more complex surfaces. *Tips, tricks, and best practices for creating light installations. *Discuss practical prototyping and field testing. By the end, you’ll leave with practical projection mapping skills, a working concept or prototype, and practical strategies to continue your creative exploration, ready to transform walls, objects, and unexpected spaces into luminous, interactive experiences.
