The 30th Annual National Trail Trek (NTT) celebrates South Mountain's "National Trail," a historic and beautiful trail that stretches from Pima Canyon, located at the easternmost edge of the mountain, to the ridgeline at San Juan Lookout, which lies on the western edge of the park. The 15.5-mile hike will expose you to hundreds of variations of Sonoran Desert flora and provide the chance to witness the abundant wildlife native to South Mountain.

Central Ave., on Saturday, January 11th, 2025 from 10am - 2pm
Know Before You Go: South Mountain Trail Trek Map Average hiking time is 5 to 6 hours for the 15.5-mile trek. Participants are advised to be rested, hydrate adequately, wear appropriate hiking shoes and attire, and to remember when taking a hike to Do it Right!
All participants must report to the South Mountain Visitor Center (10409 S. Central Ave.) on the day of the event to pick up their wristband. Participants must have a wristband to access the bus/lunch/shuttle back to their vehicle after the event. There are no exceptions to this policy. Timing: Participants may arrive as early as 5:30am to park at the Activity Complex, pick up wristbands, and enjoy breakfast and coffee. Shuttle schedule is listed below. The event ends at approximately 5:00pm. Hikers must arrive at the lunch location by 1:30pm to complete the hike on time. Hikers arriving after this time will be shuttled from Telegraph Pass to the Activity Complex. Those wishing to complete the hike after 1:30pm must hike on the Bajada Trail from the trail's end at San Juan Lookout and provide their own transportation to their personal vehicle at the Activity Complex. Shuttles: The first shuttle is scheduled to leave from the Activity Complex at 6:05 a.m. and will depart in 10-minute increments thereafter. The last shuttle is scheduled to leave by 7:05 a.m. The shuttles will then transport you from the Activity Complex to Pima Canyon Trailhead (4500 E Pima Canyon Road), approximately 10 miles, with a ride time of 25 minutes. The shuttles returning you from the end of the hike at San Juan Lookout to the Activity Complex's parking area will travel approximately 5.5 miles, with a ride time of 15 minutes.
