Want to make a video game but new to coding? No problem! GFS Alumni and Game Designer Bernie Mattson will teach campers a variety of coding languages like HTML and Python using little engines for little games, worlds, and stories. From branching narrative text adventure game engines like Tiny Choice, puzzle game engines like Puzzle Script and Bitsy, and art software like Decker and Flickgame for point-and click games, these tools will be easy to pick up and free! If campers are confident in their skills, we will move on to larger software like Ren’Py and Game Maker for making platformers and RPGs. By the end of the week, campers will have a whole portfolio of tiny games that they can run in any browser, and a familiarity with coding for games that can be translated into any larger engine.
