About this event

Description

Kayaking can be a great activity to improve both our mental and physical health. This class will focus on learning fundamental strokes to get started kayaking and begin to build confidence on the water. This course is designed for beginners who want to learn or those self-taught who would like to improve their technique. The course will include discussion on basic equipment, safety practices, and getting in and out of the water effectively. On the water, participants will learn the fundamental strokes for maneuvering the kayak to include the forward stroke, reverse stroke, sweep stokes for turning, and side strokes for lateral movement. Participants are invited to bring lunch and snacks to enjoy during designated breaks. By the end of the course, participants will have the basic skills to engage in short recreational trips to further explore kayaking as an activity to support their overall health and well-being.
