You’ve heard of Jamestown, the first English settlement in Virginia, established in 1607. But did you know that by 1611, the English were planning to build a new capital in Virginia? Located in the Curles of the James River near present day Richmond, the Citie of Henricus was established as the second major English settlement in America from 1611 – 1622. Come learn about the history of Henricus and how it was involved in the dramatic stories of fascinating individuals such as John Rolfe, Pocahontas, and other historical figures.
