Come join our new class and learn the basics of Mahjong! Mah Jongg! Mah Jong!
Mah jongg is played by 4 players, who receive, discard and exchange tiles, with the aim of being the first to collect 14 tiles of a certain combination from the hands card. Mah jongg is a fast-paced, exciting game requiring skill and a pinch of luck! It has many similarities to the card game Rummy and Rummikub. Good for the brain activity. Good for your social life too!
For class your will need to order THE BIG CARD for free from themahjongline.com. and textbook from amazon “Visual Companion Guide: For American Mah Jong” by Dara Collins. One textbook per household should be fine. National Mah Jongg League rules will be taught. The NMJL new 2026 card is not being mailed until last week of March, so we are using THE BIG CARD for learning. Cards from most companies change every year but have different mailing dates. One can play on The Big Card and NMJL cards in the local Metro area.
Sets will be provided by the instructor, if you already own a set, you are welcome to bring it! Be sure to bring a tablecloth or mat to protect your tiles from craft activities that have happened on tables in classroom.
