About this event
2 Wednesdays, April 1 - 8, 6:00 - 8:00 pm Neurographic Art Taught by Teren Neal, 15+ $54 Member / $59 Non-member Class 1: Intro to Neurographic Art: Stress into Harmony Finally—an art class for everyone! Whether you’re a lifelong artist or firmly in the "I can't draw" crowd, if you can hold a pen, you can create neurographic art. This 2-hour workshop for adults and teens turns stress into harmony using a simple 7-step process. We’ll transform "chaotic" scribbles into peaceful, integrated art, teaching you how to use these "neuro-doodles" to find calm whenever you need it. All materials (like professional markers and paper) are provided! Please note: while this class is great for wellness and relaxation, it’s a creative workshop rather than a formal clinical therapy activity. Class 2: Intermediate Neurographic Art: Beyond the Basics Ready to take your practice deeper? This intermediate class moves beyond basic relaxation to help you break old habits and shift your mindset through art. In this two-hour session, we’ll use meditation and unique "counterintuitive" linework to help quiet the brain's automatic stress responses. It’s a creative way to strengthen your ability to stay calm and intentional, even when life gets hectic. Along the way, we’ll chat about the cool science of ho The Newark Arts Alliance will retain a $5 cancellation fee if a student withdraws from a class. With a background in behavioral science and special education, Teren Neal has specialized training in trauma-informed approaches and teaching social skills within positive behavior systems. She “accidentally” discovered neurographic art over 15 years ago as a personal tool for grief processing, only to later find that her intuitive 'doodling' was a scientifically-backed therapeutic method. She now teaches participants how to use the 'neuro-doodle' to understand the neurological links between emotion and learning, helping them transform automatic stress responses into intentional mindfulness.
