5 Friday mornings, July 10, 17, 24, 31, August 7, 10am-12pm Fabric Manipulation Taught by Sammi Madanat, 18+ Learn to alter your own apparel using dyeing, bleaching, stamping and embroidery and appliqué techniques. Over the course of 5 weeks we will be using these techniques on cotton fabric which will ultimately be sewn together to create a small wall hanging or messenger bag, or if the student chooses, be applied as patches to one of their own garments. The class will be flexible enough that everyone’s finished project will be unique, but will provide everyone with the same practical skills. Instructor Bio: Sammi has been teaching art for 15 years to students of all ages. She received her BFA from U of DE. Her major area of interest is sculpture and multi media 2D art. She also enjoys experimenting with new mediums and old favorites because she believes play is the most important elements in creativity. The Newark Arts Alliance will retain a $5 cancellation fee if a student withdraws from a class.
