About this event
1 Monday, March 9 , 12:00 - 4:00 pm Stained Glass: Flowers Taught by Maureen Coughlan, 18+ $44 Member / $48 Non-member Learn the basics of stained glass using the classic “Tiffany” copper foil technique! In this beginner’s hands-on class, you’ll create a unique Spring Flower – either a daffodil or 2 tulips suncatcher. You'll be guided through each step of the process— foiling, soldering, polishing, and adding the chain—while gaining confidence with tools and techniques used in stained glass work. The teacher will call each of the students to ask which project they want to do and what color choices. The teacher will be cutting and grinding the glass prior to class for safety reasons. By the end of class, you’ll go home with a dazzling, sun-catching creation ready to hang in your window. No experience needed—all materials provided! There is a $25 materials fee which can be paid to the instructor at the start of class - cash or Venmo, please. The Newark Arts Alliance will retain a $5 cancellation fee if a student withdraws from a class. Maureen took her first glass class in 2004 to create a simple suncatcher—and she hasn’t stopped since. Over the past 20+ years, her love for glass has grown into a passion, evolving into a wide range of work including suncatchers, wind chimes, panels, and intricate stained glass lamps.
