35. 07. BOLD, EXUBERANT REDS (Friday, May 1) Rich, juicy, full-bodied, and immediately appealing, the wines from Mediterranean-like climates are the boldest and, in many cases, the most pleasurable of all the great wines of the world. Far from the Bordeaux, Burgundy, Barolo or Rioja models, these wines offer new styles and striking personalities. In Spain, they encompass appellations from Aragón and Priorat to Jumilla and Andalusia, and varieties like Garnacha (Grenache), Monastrell (a.k.a. Mourvèdre and Mataro), Bobal and Syrah, among others. But as we discovered in our tastings last season, today they can be made with almost any variety and in any region. In this tasting we will explore the very best wines made in these bold and flamboyant styles. Please note that this class registration is non-refundable.
