04. FOCUS ON SUPERDUEROS (Friday, February 13)
The banks of the Duero River are home to the prestigious Ribera del Duero and Toro wine appellations. However, led by the astonishing quality and success of Mariano Garci´a’s Mauro wines, a growing number of wineries and winemakers, including stars like Peter Sisseck and Abadi´a Retuerta, started crafting high quality wines outside these wine regions, in a similar fashion to Italian winemakers who made groundbreaking Supertuscan wines disregarding traditional appellations’ rules decades ago. In addition, more ambitious wines are also coming out of lesser appellations. In this seminar we will taste the best of these new non-D.O. Castilian and lesser known D.O. wines, and compare them with stars from Ribera del Duero, Toro and Rioja. Please note that this class registration is non-refundable.
