BLOOM (Beautiful Littles Overcoming Obstacles of the Mind) After ten years of teaching dance to young children and witnessing their confidence grow because of it, Courtney Ross, a graduate of The Alvin Ailey School of Dance and Lusher Charter School, founded BLOOM in 2017. Since the first Summer Experience, BLOOM has expanded its offerings to include quarterly workshops, private lessons, and Socio-Emotional Learning workshop facilitation, reaching over 100 students from the New Orleans community. Through our dance programs and wellness workshops, we aim to help students succeed in all areas of life. Each BLOOM dance class provides a unified learning experience where dance, meditation, yoga, and other mindfulness techniques are used to introduce youth in inner-city communities to mental health and wellness practices, fostering self-confidence, positive self-talk, and healthy coping skills.
