About this event
Keratinocyte skin cancers are among the most common malignancies encountered in clinical practice, making early recognition and appropriate management essential for healthcare professionals. This self-paced e-learning module provides a practical introduction to actinic keratosis (AK), basal cell carcinoma (BCC), and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Learners will explore the clinical features, risk factors, and diagnostic criteria used to differentiate these common skin lesions, while developing the skills needed to identify high-risk findings that warrant biopsy or specialist referral. The course also reviews evidence-based prevention strategies and initial management approaches, helping clinicians make informed decisions in primary care settings. Designed for nurses, nurse practitioners, physician associates, and other healthcare professionals, this module builds confidence in the assessment and management of common keratinocyte skin cancers. Vanderbilt University School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation. To earn continuing education credit, participants must complete the entire module and achieve a score of 80% or higher on the post-quiz. Upon successful completion, learners will be awarded 0.75 ANCC contact hours.
