Alopecia encompasses a range of conditions that result in hair loss and can significantly impact patients’ physical and emotional well-being. This self-paced e-learning module provides healthcare professionals with a practical introduction to the recognition, classification, and management of alopecia. Learners will explore the key clinical features of major types, including alopecia areata, alopecia totalis, alopecia universalis, and androgenetic alopecia, while developing skills to differentiate between them in clinical practice. The course also highlights the psychosocial and cultural effects of hair loss and supports a more holistic approach to patient care. Designed for nurses, nurse practitioners, physician associates, and other healthcare professionals, this module builds confidence in assessing and supporting patients experiencing alopecia. Vanderbilt University School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation. To earn continuing education credit, participants must complete the entire module and achieve a score of 80% or higher on the post-quiz. Upon successful completion, learners will be awarded 0.75 ANCC contact hours.
