Experience Riverview Farmstead like never before. First paddle the DuPage River upstream and paddle back into twilight, catching the first sounds and sights of the wild nightlife. Back on land, continue the adventure at the Riverview barn, where we will explore the fascinating world of bats. Using specialized bat-detecting equipment, uncover which species are flying overhead while learning about their unique behaviors and importance to the ecosystem. Wrap up the night gathered around a cozy fire, enjoying hot dogs and s’mores under the stars. Previous kayaking experience is required, as this is a recreational program and not an instructional paddling program. Wear shoes and clothes that can get wet, and don’t forget your sunscreen, sunglasses and a water bottle. All equipment is provided, including life jackets. This event takes place outdoors on uneven, natural terrain and requires less than 0.5 miles of walking.
