CarFit is a national initiative developed by AARP, the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and AAA to help older drivers assess how well they "fit" their personal vehicles and learn how to adjust them for maximum safety and comfort. CarFit is a practical, evidence-based program that empowers older drivers to stay safe, comfortable, and independent on the road. By ensuring a proper fit in their vehicles and learning about safety features, older adults can reduce injury risk, improve driving confidence, and maintain mobility within their communities.
