Loss can take many forms. The most recognized type of loss occurs when a loved one dies. Non-death losses involve the loss of something significant to a person’s identity, role, or life circumstances. Examples include losing a job, ending a relationship, experiencing chronic illness, or giving up a lifestyle. Secondary losses follow a primary loss. Cumulative loss refers to experiencing multiple losses in a short period, leaving little time to process each one. Led by Chesterfield Mental Health Support Services, participants will discuss the grief process and its impact on different types of losses. Opportunities will be given to identify significant losses and share grief experiences with the group.
