Botanical sun prints, also known as cyanotypes, are a type of photography created by placing an object, such as leaves or flowers, onto a light-sensitive paper and exposing it to sunlight. This process results in a blue image on the paper, as the paper absorbs ultraviolet light, turning the areas that are exposed to cyan. The technique was pioneered by botanist Anna Atkins in the 19th century, who used it to document and illustrate various plants. Botanical sun prints are an elegant and simple way to bring the outdoors in. All supplies provided.
