Kate Short has been a member of the Pocahontas Chapter of Virginia Master Naturalists since 2012 and has served as a volunteer on several projects for both the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the James River Association. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation was started in 1967, and serves as a watchdog organization, with the goal of protecting and restoring the Bay from its many challenges in terms of clean air, clean water, and sustainability. Kate will discuss some of the history of the Bay, its physical features and characteristics, restoration efforts, and the commercial impact it has on Virginia.
