Ever wondered what's actually happening under the hood of a car? Want to know how to check your own oil or what to do when that dashboard light comes on? This hands-on introduction to basic car care will teach you essential skills that every driver (and future driver) should know. Whether you're years away from your license or already driving, these fundamentals will save you money, keep you safer on the road, and make you a more confident car owner. Students will learn: Under-the-hood basics (how to safely open a hood), and how to identify the battery, radiator, belts, and air filter—understanding fluids and filters. How to read tire pressure, steps to changing tires. How to read the dashboard and what to do when specific lights come on. How to change windshield wipers. Budgeting and preparing financially for vehicle maintenance. Open to grades 6 -12 (Space is limited) Please note that this is a four-day after-school class, Monday - Thursday.
