About this event
Blast off into an interstellar adventure as you raceacross the solar system, coding your way through cosmic challenges! With yourtrusty Sphero BOLTs and Sphero INDIs as robotic teammates, the young engineers will combine robotics, rocketry, and creativity to complete a launch mission: launchyour custom-designed rocket before time runs out. In “RoboRacers 1.0” your robots will zip across alien terrain and dodge space-themed obstacles—asteroid fields, swirling black holes, and slippery lunar dust—using coding skills tonavigate, collect mission data, and activate launch sequences. Each team’s rocket, crafted by hand, from lightweight materials and basic flight designs, must survive safety tests before countdown begins. Will you complete the code? Can your robot deliver the final fuel cell to your rocket? It’s a thrillingrace through the stars where innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving determine who will reach the launch pad and soar to victory! The 1.0 version promotes curiosity, innovation, team skills, and basic coding. All students are welcome– no experience necessary. Taught by Mountain View’s STEM Specialist, Dr. Z! Our Community Partners: NASA, Kennedy Space Center, Astronaut Memorial Foundation.
