Mindfulness in Motion June-August
Science Drive Medical Center • 621 Science Dr. Madison, WI 53711 Organized by UW HealthAbout this event
Description
This is a tentative program. Registrations will be accepted if it becomes official.
What is Mindfulness? Mindfulness is a way of learning to relate directly to whatever is happening in your life rather than operating on "automatic pilot." Through practice you can more fully experience moments of joy and connection, and find new ways to relate to the illness, pain and stress that is part of life as well. Explore the benefits of mindful awareness in moving meditations. This active class involves sequences of slow physical movements, some inspired by forms of Qigong, a Chinese wellbeing practice several thousands of years old, supporting flexibility and strength of body and mind. The class will explore creativity and joy through movement flow and, if weather is suitable, outdoor practice. The movements are adaptable, modifiable, and can be done standing or seated. All are welcome; no experience needed! This class is a Hybrid class. Available in person at Science Drive Medical Center and on Zoom. A zoom link will be provided after registration. Register for specific dates you want to attend. This class is ongoing with the schedule for each month published six weeks ahead.
