About this event
Description
In this class, students will hand fabricate a stone-centric brass bolo tie. Skills learned in this class include use of a jeweler's saw, introduction to bezel setting, use of files and pliers for forming metal, and polishing on buffing wheels. This is a beginner friendly class and no previous metalsmithing experience required.
NOTE: Students must come with their own stone which can be sourced locally from Burnie's Rock Shop on E. Johnson Street. Stone size should be a maximum of 40 x 50 mm, minimum 10 x 20 mm with Mohs hardness 6-7, excluding feldspars (moonstone, labradorite, sunstone).
