This class is required for all current Liberty University students, faculty, and staff members to be eligible to use the ranges at Liberty Mountain Gun Club. This class is not required for the LU concealed carry permit. This class is a prerequisite for the Practical Applications 101 and the Self Defense in the Home classes. This course is an introduction to firearms safety. It presents a good opportunity for new shooters to learn how to safely use their firearms and for experienced users to reconfirm good safety habits. The certificate of completion issued after the class allows individuals 21 years of age or older to pursue obtaining their concealed handgun permit in Virginia. All classes are two-hour blocks of instruction. All classes are $15. Class fee is to be paid at the point of sale when checking in for the class. We accept debit/credit cards, Apple Pay, and Flames Cash. Please bring a physical copy of a current government-issued ID (driver's license, passport, etc.) with you to class. Please wear closed-toed shoes and a close-necked shirt (crew, polo, etc.). Unless otherwise stated, all classes will be held at the Rifle/Pistol building. Please arrive a little early to check-in as there is some paperwork to fill out. Firearms, ammunition, and eye and ear protection are provided. However, you may bring personal eye and ear protection and/or a personal handgun for the live-fire portion of the General Firearms Safety class. The gun should be in good working order and you will need 10 rounds of factory-new ammunition. The range will not have ammunition available for purchase.
