First Day Hikes are free, guided hikes offered each year on New Year’s Day. The hikes are intended to promote an alternate way of celebrating the New Year by going outside, getting some exercise, and enjoying local nature and history. Start your year off on the right foot by joining our knowledgeable park rangers, naturalists, and volunteers in one of our County’s beautiful parks.
Out with the old, in with the new! Start 2027 with a rejuvenating hike in the great outdoors. Join Jug Bay Volunteer Naturalists on a guided exploration of a natural winter wonderland.
Choose between a brisk 4+ mile trek to Emory Waters Nature Preserve or a leisurely 2-mile stroll on our popular yellow loop trail. You can choose your route with the hike leaders before the hikes begin.
Sturdy footwear, binoculars for spotting wildlife, and a water bottle are recommended. Please dress for the weather. This program is free, but registration is required. For more information, contact Park Staff at jugbay@aacounty.org or 410-222-8006.
