Newton’s Attic STEM Field Trips provide an exciting, hands-on learning experience that brings science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts to life through interactive activities and engineering challenges. Designed for students ages 7 to 17, field trips engage participants in topics such as force, motion, energy, aerodynamics, simple machines, mechanical advantage, and the engineering design process. Students rotate through engaging stations including the Ballista (Pumpkin Chunker), where they explore energy transfer and projectile motion; the NASA-inspired SPINtron, which demonstrates acceleration and astronaut training concepts; G-Force, a high-speed ride that teaches force, speed, energy transfer, and mechanical advantage; and a Rocket Build and Launch station where students design, build, and launch their own air-powered rockets. During the school year, visits also include the Engineering Process Presentation featuring Victor the Candy Shooting Robot, which showcases the journey from idea to invention. Lasting approximately 3.5 to 4 hours, these immersive field trips combine education with fun, helping students connect classroom learning to real-world STEM applications in a memorable and inspiring way.
