About this event
Explore the magic of the night sky with The Star People: A Lakota Story by S. D. Nelson! Learn how the stars came to be in this beautiful traditional story. Then, create your own constellation art with oil pastels and build a simple circuit to make your stars twinkle like the real night sky. This series is presented by the Mazza Museum at the University of Findlay, home to the world’s largest collection of original artwork by children’s book illustrators. Through picture books and hands-on activities, the museum inspires a love of reading and creativity for all ages. Each week welcomes a guest presenter, a featured story and a related craft. Designed for kindergarteners through adults, these programs are perfect for families to enjoy together. This year’s series celebrates 250 years of American stories, creativity and courage. From brave heroes and clever inventors to legendary folk tales, these stories spark imagination while encouraging the next generation of storytellers, artists and dreamers. No pre-registration is required. This program is included with your Lakeside Chautauqua Gate Pass.
