About this event
April 18th to May 7th Saturday 1:00-3:00, Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:00-6:00 This course is designed to give the aspiring fiber artist a basic introduction to weaving. Students will have an opportunity to learn how to weave using three different looms (Inkle, rigid heddle and four harness looms) Instructional classes will take place Tuesday and Thursday 4-6PM and Saturday 1-3PM. Open studio time between classes will be available to each student enrolled in a course Introduction to Four Harness loom weaving This course will introduce participants to weaving on a Four harness Loom, this table loom is already warped with a pattern and color scheme. The result of this class will be a colorful handwoven table runner, pillow, tapestry or place mats. Introduction to Rigid Heddle loom weaving This course will introduce participants to weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom. The result of this class will be a colorful hand-woven: set of placemats, a pillow, scarf or table runner. Introduction to Inkle Loom Weaving This course will introduce participants to weaving on an Inkle Loom, a small loom that makes straps up to 3in wide. The result of this class will be a colorful hand-woven strap that can be used as a belt, handle, guitar strap … Instructor Bio: Katie Weaver has been teaching weaving and other fiber arts for 30 years at North Country School, Northwood School, and around the ADKs. She is a Lake Placid native and enjoys sharing her weaving knowledge with the community.
